Gm gm. Another VERY quiet week on Avalanche…

Extremely quiet.

Almost everyone active in AVAX NFT scene is currently partying their faces off at the Summit in Barcelona and I’m fully coping. The highlights have been pretty great if you haven’t seen them on your timeline.

Color way on these go hard. Need to find out how I can get my hands on these.

Most said the Bruhs were dead, but they weaseled their way into the Frens II extravaganza last night.

And lastly… Nobs is a girl?

The plot thickens. I’ll leave it up for interpretation and will keep my thoughts to myself.

Anyway - I’m a terrible journalist for not making the trip to Barcelona and providing up-to-the-minute coverage on all of the shenanigans taking place. For now, I’ll have to rely on the drunk Twitter posting of my comrades.

Back to AVAX NFTs - the artists chosen for Avaissance mentorship were announced yesterday.

Great to see native names like Stupifff on the list. I know some people were disappointed for either 1) not being selected and / or 2) that most artists chosen are not native to Avalanche.

Hot take incoming: I think it’s fantastic that most artists are non-native. If the mentors chose primarily artists who have already been building here, how does that impact the community from a growth perspective? That doesn’t strike me as a value-add when one of the biggest challenges for AVAX is unique user growth. Incentivizing off-chain artists to build here is how we receive a new influx of users that come from their respective networks.

Additionally, keep in mind that the mentors chose the artists, not Avalabs. It’s entirely subjective as to who they picked and not being chosen shouldn’t be viewed as a slight towards your work product.

I think VQ said it best and to the above tweet’s point, I think many complaints on Twitter were made in bad faith.

Success is not a straight line up. I’ve personally experienced a couple of big letdowns in my life regarding things I cared deeply about and put a tremendous amount of effort into. My takeaway was you can either wallow in despair and remain stagnant, or you can use a perceived shortcoming (which I don’t even think this is) as fuel towards your biggest and best initiative or project yet.

All in all - I’m pretty excited to see what new projects spin out of the mentorship program and the new community members who come along with these artists.

Separately, Sausagers minted on Saturday and have been all over my timeline (outside of $PEPE and other shitcoin posts).

I was busy IRL during mint and completely missed the boat here, but think I’m going to scoop a couple as cultural artifacts and vault them. Art is disturbingly excellent and I think Will has a few tricks up his sleeve for future plans.

Ferdy Fish were also swept to the high heavens earlier this week, going from ~60 to north of 100 AVAX.

This project continues to deliver on unparalleled meme game and continuous development of Ferdy Flip, most recently adding Limbo and Plinko. I have only lost on Plinko so far but I’m sure someone out there has won.

Apparently there was some spiciness surrounding the sweeps. I never really caught up on it nor do I care. The simplest answer is usually the right one - people recognize the value of being a part of the Ferdy ecosystem. I’ll mic drop with this:

That’s really all I have to say on that.

Conclusion

Another short read this week - hopefully we’ll get back in the swing of things next week when folks are back and not violently hungover. Still massively coping.

Have a great weekend and remember, no buns.

Cheers,
Chuck
